Xmas 07
My third trip to the island and third visit with Noud and Francois-it was like going home. It was, simply, wonderful as usual. Not only was I able to visit with N&F (always a pleasure) I was happy to visit with Aruban friends I have made over the years. A wonderful busy place! Shopping with Francois for the Christmas day barbeque, helping prepare, and, of course eating and drinking. The top happy surprise was a visit from Janeke and Hennie from Holland for Xmas #2.

My return to eastern Canada, and 4 wild snow storms in 7 days made me miss Little David's even more.

Scot and Neil-missed you.

much love
John

gastenboek

Sept. 13-18 2007 Aruba Trip
Hello... Our trip to Aruba was one of the worst trips we've ever ... just kidding! Without exaggerations, it was the best trip we've ever been to together.

So let's break it down baby.

Little David- The B&B was cleanly maintained with daily housekeeping courtesy of Hugo and others. Our suite (highly recommended) was roomy with his and his sinks, spacious shower with strong water pressure (just the way I like it), and a comfy bed to sleep and do other things in. Noud cooks and serves a scrumptious daily breakfast consisting of coffee, juice, tea, eggs, papayas, oranges, grapefruits, kiwis, pudding, and sandwiches. A morning swim in the pool was the perfect way for us to start the day. But we must say the B&B's biggest asset is its owners, Noud and Francois. Noud is energetic, loud, gregarious, and has a wild and wicked sense of humor.
In short, he is the life of the party. As for Francois, he is quieter but still very friendly, helpful, and fun to be around. We also met Erik and Steve from Maryland (we saw photos of your house on your website and it looks beautiful), Greg from Ft. Lauderdale, Toby and Eugene (thanks for the Chinese food guys), and Rene and Chi Chi. It was a lot of fun snorkeling with you guys/girls. Last but not least, there are also 3 cats, 2 dogs, a parrot, and 2 turtles in hiding. Staying at Little David felt like staying at a friend's home.

Aruba- What can we say about Aruba that hasn't been said before. The beaches on the island are simply breathtaking. The waters are clear, pristine, aqua-marine colored, and warm. The sand is soft and sometimes powdery. Our favorite beach is Baby Beach on the south side of the island. Semi-circular rock formations protect the beach from waves; thus rendering it like a natural pool... which brings us to... Aruba's Natural Pool. It is located on the eastern side of the island and a Jeep is needed to get there. We rented a small compact car and had to walk the remaining way to the Natural Pool. Boy, was it tough on us. The trek took about 25 minutes each way in 90 degree Fahrenheit up and down rocky roads. We thought we were going to pass out midway. When we finally arrived there, it was worth it. A huge circular rock formation forms a snorkeling/swimming paradise protecting us from the strong waves coming from the eastern sea.

Restaurants- Noud recommended some local restaurants but unfortunately most of the them were closed due to the low-season. We ate at Bucaneer which was interesting. Aquariums adorn the walls and expectantly; the menu leans heavily on seafood. We ordered shrimp avocado salad, grilled baby shark, a crab entree, and beers and it came out to about $20 per person.

Simply Fish at the Marriott- A simple yet highly effective seafood restaurant situated right on the beach. We ordered wine, caesar salad, shrimp cocktail, grilled halibut, baked chilean sea bass, and dessert about $80 per person. It's on the expensive side but still worth it. The food was slightly above average, the service attentive, but the most impressive of all was the milieu. We ate under the stars listening to and watching the Caribbean sea with a constant breeze cooling us down. It was a magical night.

Daniel's Steak and Chop- An excellent meat and seafood Caribbean influenced restaurant situated a block away from the Radisson in the high rise district. The decor is modern with exceptional high ceilings. We ordered caesar salad, seafood soup, jumbo shrimp kebab (grilled to perfection), veal filet mignon (like butter), sparkling water, and champagne. It was also about $80 per person.

Snorkeling- It was our first snorkeling trip and we were so excited (and a bit scared). Noud organized a tour for us, some of his friends, and other guests in the B&B. We boarded a boat and sailed out to a German shipwreck site. There were about 50+ people on board with mostly American family tourists. As a snorkeling virgin, I did better than I expected. I did manage to see some tropical fishes including blue parrotfish. Oli proved to be a natural. Snorkeling really is fun and exhilarating. Tips: If you've never snorkeled before, purchase the equipments at home and practice in the pool.

Ostrich farm- A quick 10 minute tour of the African birds. It was interesting but really more for kids. We tried Ostrich meat for the first time and I found it rough.

Casinos- Aruba has many casinos for an island its size. We went to about 6 of them and they were pretty similar. Limits are low ($5 Blackjack available) but variety of games are limited. Oli did hit the jackpot at the Renaissance hotel and won $450.00.

To reiterate, our trip to Aruba was everything we expected and then some. If you have any doubts about visiting Aruba or staying at Little David's, trust us, don't. We were sad to leave and will definitely go back... just don't know when. Sigh!

Kindest regards,
Kai and Oli

wishing
I have visited Noud and Francois twice. I was reading what everyone wrote recently and remembered all over again.
I am travelling back again this Christmas--I'm from Canada, so you can imagine the difference at that time of the year! I look forward to spending time with these wonderful men and an assortment of people from everywhere. Hope my American friends read this and decide to go back again also.
Love to all

Aruba Vacation
Noud and Francois are the two most fabulous people on the island. You are very incredible people, who happen to run the finest gay resort in the Carribean. The quality of the accomodation is wonderful, breakfast delicous, amenities incredible and the intangibles you provide are second to no one. We know of you guys more personally and we are so very happy to have ou in our lives. We do have a time-share on this island but attempt tp stay here every chance we get. You know we love you guys very much !!!! I almost forgot the other features are wonderful location and centrally located to the beach (Eagle and Palm), the Airport, Jimmy's (gay bar) and Downtown. The price is out of this world and it will include breakfast !!!!! Enjoy ........
A.k.a - Crazy horse :)
